Memorial day weekend FUN!!

First we started off the weekend in Declo, ID. We stayed with my sister and her family. Saturday morning we met up with my parents and headed to City of Rocks about an hour south of Burley. We had so much fun climbing rocks and being with family!

We headed home and spent Monday with Jerek's parents and some siblings. We went fishing/boating at a friends house just down the road from us. They have their own private pond on 20 acres.

2014 Spring Soccer

The scary thing about soccer?? I just got an email today from the soccer league congratulating the kids on a great season. A thanks to the coaches, etc.... Oh and fall soccer league registration begins in 2 weeks.... (WHAT?! I SWEAR we just finished 2 DAYS ago!!)

Number 1 reason to not watch your kids play soccer: the weather has a 90% of being freezing/rainy/windy or all of the above. Number 2: there are 2 seasons of soccer.

I really encourage my kids to play basketball, volleyball, dance, anything indoors. But there is something about soccer that they just love. Even Addi carried on when she found out the uniforms were green (she was hoping for pink or some other princess color). I guess there's something to it. So I have invested in lots of warm clothes and hot cocoa. And I sure do love watching them play.
And snapping photos.

noteworthy

Oh man. Time to play a little catch up. Things are heating up with the end of school and summer coming!! May is busy with field trips, parties, concerts, soccer tournaments, yard work, and of course we want to fit in some spring camping! But let's back up to March and April first! Good months considering! I get spring allergies pretty bad but things are looking up. I can go outside without sneezing my head off so that's good. Ugh. It's these little annoyances that make me happy for the little things in life. I'm so GLAD that I only have allergies for 2 months of the year! And other blessings that come to mind these last few months:

I did not get strep this year. Not only that but I didn't even get a cold! And the kids/Jerek didn't either! Come January, I was so worried about getting sick. We had just booked our cruise and I knew that was a red flag for all germs out there to bomb us. I went to our local herb store and loaded up on $90+ of elderberry and immune stimulators. It worked!!

March/April skiing was fantastic this year! Bogus got 2 FEET of snow during spring break. We went as a family and I also took Em & Blake up too. We had a great time and I'm grateful for Bogus being close and that my kids are awesome skiers so I have someone to go with!

We had 3rd quarter awards. Em for honor roll, Blake for honor roll and citizenship, and Addi for citizenship (which makes me very happy cause she can be a little blunt). I'm so grateful my kids love school and are excelling in it! And that Addi is being nice to others! :)

For spring break we had nothing planned. Which was fantastic. We went to Hansen for a couple of days to see cousins. My sister was redoing my parents bathroom so I got to join in the fun. And yes it is a lot more fun then your own projects cause you're not spending your own money! I love designing and working with my hands. We also took the family ice skating! Poor Blake just could not catch on. He had bruises all over his body...

I love my yard. And I love working in my yard. I hate that I can see my neighbors from over the fence though. We are working at putting in some bushes and smaller trees and some flowers. I sure love digging in the dirt.

Blake is loving scouts. He just received his wolf and 3 arrows. He is looking forward to day camp with his dad attending with him. He also enjoyed his 1st pinewood derby. I was surprised how much time was put in to it! But it was worth all the work because he got 1st place and had so much fun racing!! I will admit, scouting has been good.

Blake got braces. I'm grateful that we can afford it.....

Jerek took the girls to a daddy-daughter dance put on by our local high school. The girls dressed up and put on makeup. I was a little taken back at how grown up Em looked. Sigh....she's gonna be 12......

I went to a Stake Relief Society meeting which was beyond anything I've ever been to for a Relief Society night. It was awesome. We had a flash mob dance to 'Happy", great speakers, all the bishops participated in synchronized swimming just like this, and the stake presidency did a lip sync to a Sinatra song (still waiting for that video to go viral). The stake went all out with decorations, chocolates, treat boxes, surprises hidden under our seats. I learned that EMOTION is determined by our MOTION. It was a great uplifting night.

THEN......

Wicked for the next night! Super fun and still fantastic to watch even after the 3rd time. I went with one of my YW for her first time so that was fun to be there with her.

And then thinking the weekend couldn't get any better, Jerek got us tickets to.......

MINDY! One of my favorite singers! It was fantastic and she is super spunky and fun.

We have 2 more weeks left of soccer. It has been exhausting. Emmalee has soccer twice a week for an hour and a half. And a game every Saturday. She started the end of Feb. This week is tournament with games Wed, Thur, and Sat. Addi and Blake both have practice once a week for an hour and games on Sat. Thank goodness they are at the same fields cause 3 out of their 4 games have been at the same time. We have yet to have all 3 games at the same time! Emmalee continues to improve with each game. She is learning a lot this year as she is playing with 6th graders and in a more competitive league. Blake is so fun to watch. He loves to play defense but when he is on offense he scores big time! This is Addi's first year and first sport really. She has enjoyed it. Her first game she was shy and ran around chasing the ball with her hands by her side. Then she kicked the ball. And then she started getting into and ended up scoring 3 points!

My in-laws have decided to serve a mission for the church and received their mission call this last week. Independence, Missouri! They are super excited to serve in an area with a lot of church history. And my father-in-law's patriarchal blessing mentions something about this call. He was reminded of the words written after their call was read. It is an exciting time and we look forward to their service.

Life is good and I have been very blessed. I LOVE life and try to find the joy in each moment. My kids are great. They are happy and healthy and loved. My husband is the light in my life. I adore him and relish the moments that he is home. My Heavenly Father knows and loves me and this gives me much peace. Life is not perfect so we are here to find the joy in it. It's a happy day.
