We have this awesome closet in our basement. With a light in it and no doors. I mean it isn't really a closet since it isn't in a bedroom, is it?? Anyway, I think the original idea was to have books in it. Since it has a ton of shelves. But I couldn't stop thinking about how much potential this closet had! How much storage it could hold! Because it is so deep. Like a real closet. If it just had some doors on it to cover all of it up. Jerek balked at the idea for YEARS until I finally got him to think about it. Nagging really does work. I just needed to come up with a solution for the doors since this closet is WIDE, obviously not like a real closet. So no real closet doors would fit. Or closet hardware.
Best. Project. Ever.
Before.....
(Addi just came in and saw this picture and made a few comments: "What's that? Oh, I liked that. I sure miss it. Especially with the computer." Me: "Really? You don't like the doors? We don't even have the computer down there anymore." Her: "Yeah. That's what's so sad about it.")
After:
Design: Me.
Finish: Me.
Put together: Me. And Jerek.
Shelves: totally Jerek.
This project was so fun for me. I loved it and I love how it turned out. Can you believe all those rubbermaids where just stacked up in our guest bedroom?? They seriously had to find their way to the bed.
Now they are nicely hidden behind my awesome doors.
And now here is our guest room:
And all those shelves in that closet?? Put them to good use. Under the stairs storage shelves now.
And all those books?? Well that's another project. When we built our addition, we added on a bedroom, laundry room, and office/bonus room. For the bonus room, we planned on having bookcases along one wall. And we finally got it done.
They look really orange in this picture. They're actually closer to the color of that chair. |
I also got my ottoman finished. I bought it years ago from Thursdays, an awesome store that sales Costco returns and various other things. A nice leather ottoman. My kids then destroyed it. Thank goodness I didn't pay full price for it! I finally found some fabric that was not to boring and had some color.
And that's that! I'll have to snap a few pictures of the whole room when it's clean. Now THAT would be picture worthy.
